KORFBALL DEVELOPMENT COURSE HELD IN LUSAKA

THE REPORT FOR THE KORFBALL DEVELOPMENT COURSE HELD IN LUSAKA FROM 12TH TO 18TH, MAY, 2014.

The International Korfball Federation in partnership with the Korfball Federation of Zambia held an educative and highly qualified Korfball development Course which was held from the 12th to 18th May, 2014 in Lusaka, Zambia.

The course was conducted by the IKF Instructor Mr. Chris Theyse who worked with the local organizing team that brought members from surrounding communities in Lusaka, Central and Muchinga provinces so as to promote and market the Korfball development works in Zambia. As you may be aware Korfball development in Zambia has reached an advanced level with leadership and guidance of various IKF instructors who have been visiting our country for various development works.

The year 2014 is a unique action year for Zambia as we shall be hosting an international event that will attract a good number of Korfballers coming from different parts of Africa and having done this course as a first test of development has made our work even much better and better. The Course attracted over 25 participants who were educated in Korfball actions and have now graduated as level one and it was resolved that each member goes back to the Community to start up their own community teams and groups. The first target is to create community awareness campaign and encourage community members to view the korfball action and integrate them into the development process and be part of the team/group there by registering with the Korfball Federation of Zambia Youth and Community Leagues which have been started after the Year of the Youth action in the year 2013. The 2013 Korfball Youth Festival which took place last year it brought together about 200 participants together and marked the road map to the Korfball Youth League now under way in Lusaka Province.

We would like to appeal for Material support if Korfball is to be developed and spread to schools, community groups and teams in Zambia. Korfball development works require a lot of Investment in material and financial areas so as to spread the game to all the parts and countries were it is required.
